By Angus Peter Campbell

Na Daoine is a new play which reflects the social and political issues around the formation of the Free Church in the Western Isles in
the 1840's. The play will reflect on the conditions and experiences of the people in the islands at that time when the importance of their
faith took precedence.
The play is being commisioned from award winning Gaelic writer Angus Pater Campbell and is being developed in collaboration with
international physical theatre director John Wright (of Told by an Idiot) and a group of Theatre Hebrides actors. The collaborating actors
are David Walker, Rod Morison, Muriel Ann Macleod and Catriona Lexy Campbell.
The first development workshops for Na Daoine took place in May and a second workshop programme is planned for September 2008. The production and National tour of the work is planned for Summer 2009.
The Na Daoine development project is funded by the Scottish Arts Council, GMS, CNAG, CNES and HIE Innes Gall.
